Data disasters and new beginnings

Posted by admin on Nov 12, 2009 in Gear News

“It’s as easy as plugging in your mouse”…famous last words as we came to the realisation we had lost a heap of our blog data during what was supposed to be routine maintenance effort. Anyway, it has at least inspired us to do a few more blog posts in order to catch back up.

OK, where to start. Regular visitors/customers will have noticed the large increase in products available over the past few months. We have established new relationships with key suppliers on quality gear we felt would add to, and expand the range. We now offer a lot more gear to help you travel to and from your destination, as well as enjoy the experience once you are there. We’ve added brands such as:

Coghlans             All the small outdoor accessories you need

PacSafe              Great security travelling bags and accessories

Design Go            All you could need to make your travels relaxing

Equip                  Excellent range of first aid kit and sleeping accessories

X-Socks &           Performance socks and underwear to keep you in peak condition.

X-Bionic

You can check out the new gear by choosing the ‘Manufacturer’ drop down at the top of the categories and choosing you brand of interest. We’ve used the past few months to get our stock levels up to a reasonable size and will soon embark on adding yet more brands to our stable. Some will expand the range of existing product types and others will be brand new lines of quality gear. We hope to have all the website updates completed in the next couple of weeks and will launch with a blog post and ad on our main page, so stay tuned.

Also, many of our current quality brands are starting to filter through some new gear and in-line updates to existing gear, so we will update those ASAP as well.

This will, if we don’t already, give us the largest range of any online outdoor gear retailer in Australia. We will continue to focus on quality gear at competitive prices. We come from a philosophy that when experiencing the outdoors, the last thing you want to be worrying about is will your gear stand up to it, especially if, in many cases, you life depends on it.

That’s all for now. We are really excited about the new brands and offerings and can’t wait to update you further.

Stay safe and enjoy summer.

Petzl Charlet SARKEN crampons recall

Posted by admin on Sep 10, 2007 in Recall Info

Petzl Charlet has recently issued a recall for Sarken Crampons. Details as follows:

Recent customer experience has shown that the front points of SARKEN crampons are susceptible to premature wearout following heavy use. This means cracking of the metal forefoot near the front point(s), followed by possible breakage if usage continues.

Petzl has stopped sales and production of these crampons and is recalling all SARKEN crampon models because we feel that the potential lifetime of the crampons should be longer than user experience has demonstrated.
